Spyder3D® and Vocational Education

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the 1990 Perkins Act defines vocational education as “organized educational programs offering a sequence of courses which are directly related to the preparation of individuals in paid or unpaid employment in current or emerging occupations requiring other than a baccalaureate or advanced degree”.

In other words, vocational education gives students the opportunity to explore a wide array of professional fields through hands-on training and instruction. Unfortunately, most vocational programs are only offered at institutions of higher education, that is, after high school. Spyder3D^® is here to change that.

We’re bringing robust, engaging vocational education to the American education system, one high school at a time by supplementing existing curricula with hands-on exploratory learning in the areas of business, graphic media, and production, but we couldn’t do this all alone.

We’re so proud and grateful to have the partnership and support of the Orange County Department of Education, along with four school districts, and eight high schools (and counting) by our side. So how are we teaching our future workforce the ins and outs of these three key areas?

We introduce students to our Spyder Lab™, an all-in-one graphic media production studio, comprised of five pieces of cutting-edge graphical equipment: 3D printers, large-format eco-solvent printers, vinyl cutters, direct-to-garment printers, and laser engravers. Together, these machines allow for near limitless possibilities for creation and profitability, all while helping to train our country’s future workforce.

In the last five years, we’ve grown and developed into a team of dedicated mentors and specialists who wish to make a positive impact on students across Southern California to better prepare them for a successful modern career. Stay tuned for more as we continue to evolve and change for the better.
